3 Time Drainers to Ditch from Your Day

While we can do everything faster and connect with more people than we ever thought possible; in trying to get through everything on our calendar we sometimes do not realize that the biggest time drainers are staring us right in our face.  Here are three energy drainers that prevent women from living a wonderfully productive and gratifying life. How do you stop them? Let us know!

Time Drainer #1: Worrying

Unfortunately we do not always know what is insignificant when we are in the moment of change. Think back to your high school years and recall what some of your biggest emotional battles were.  Does it really matter now that you were not asked to the prom? Does it really matter if someone else was more popular than you when you were 14?  Of course not! The same is true for our adult life, we just need to be smart about what matters the most and what we need to let go of.  Gained five pounds? No one cares. Your hair is not perfectly straight? Curls and bounce are just as beautiful. Taking a deep breath and keeping everything in perspective will start to put worrying in its place.

Time Drainer #2: Unrealistic Expectations

Perfection is part of our world, even though it is an impossible goal to achieve.  Unfortunately, the “ideal” woman – portrayed by Miss America, Barbie dolls, and screen actresses is 5’5, weighs 100 pounds and wears a size 5, the average U.S. model is 5’11” and weighs 117 pounds, and the average U.S. woman is 5’4” and weighs 140 pounds. We are trying to do more and more to achieve our own utopia, but there is no one perfect world out there. Having unrealistic expectations is one of the most punishing and difficult time drainers in life. Stop the cycle by reminding yourself that there is only your perfect world, not the perfect world. Create the perfectly imperfect you.

Time Drainer #3:  Fear of Failing

Taking risks are usually not that easy for people. It is hard being the one person who stands out from the rest when you are not exactly sure what to do. But until you shed what is holding you back, until you are ready to move forward and shed what is not needed, you cannot grow. Remember the caterpillar must shed her skin to form a butterfly, and most caterpillars do this hanging upside down!  Talk about uncomfortable! Making change is not easy, but transformation cannot happen by doing what you are used to doing, nor can it happen if you are not willing to take a few risks. Go ahead, and take a risk today.

What time drainers do you conquer (or need to conquer)? How do you stop them? Let us know!
