I feel so blessed to have so many opportunities in my life, and I know it is the responsibility of everyone in our society to take care of those who may not be as fortunate. Having two healthy young boys, I am passionate about raising healthy kids with bright futures. As the founder of Junior Journalists and supporter of Water.org, I try to do what I can to make sure all the children in the world have a chance to have a bright future.
Junior Journalists gives elementary school children the opportunity to become more active in our global community, learn about current events, and improve literacy. Using the Newspapers in Education curriculum, the program provides a positive environment for students to read about events they find fascinating.
All the pain and miles flew by when I completed my 2nd Ironman triathlon. I was raising money for Prostate Cancer Research as I raced and I felt like I was part of something bigger – not just an age group triathlete completing 140.6 miles in around 12-13 hours. After completing the race I decided to try to make all my races much bigger than I am. That is why I am proud to be on the Team Water.org triathlon team, raising awareness and money to provide sustainable options for every human to have access to safe water and sanitation. Water.org and their sponsors know that the water and sanitation problem in the developing world is far too big for charity alone. We are driving the water sector for new solutions, new financing models, greater transparency, and real partnerships to create lasting change. Water.org’s vision: Safe water and the dignity of a toilet for all, in our lifetime.
